Shuttle Run
The Shuttle Run Test is a shuttle run sequence that the staff at GSSI uses to simulate a stop-and-go event such as basketball, football, or soccer and mirror the physiological and psychological levels of stress common to competition.
During the test, athletes may undergo four quarters of varied-intensity shuttle running. The athletes are allowed to hydrate in-between quarters, during which time they may undergo tests to determine mental function and motor skill abilities.
By comparing the results of these test against baseline (at rest) measurements, GSSI researchers are able to determine how different nutrition interventions affect an athlete’s ability to sustain performance, resist fatigue, and maintain cognitive function.
