Athlete Testing

Run Economy Test

An athlete’s running economy is affected by running mechanics, hydration status, and training status. The Run Economy Test conducted by GSSI is a treadmill test used to determine how much energy an athlete expends while running at a standard speed.

During the test, GSSI researchers can determine the predominant fuel used at different intensities and provide detailed information on energy expenditure (calories per mile). This data can then be compared to the data collected from other athletes, enabling runners to better understand how efficiently they perform in comparison to other competitors.
