ECG Exercise Test
Central to determining an athlete’s cardiovascular performance is the ECG Exercise Test (or ECG Stress Test), a measurement of heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen consumption, and the electrical activity of the heart.
For the GSSI scientists, the main objectives in giving this test are to:
- Assure safety of the athlete during exercise protocols
- Accurately measure an athlete’s maximum heart rate
- Identify possible cardiovascular disease that the athlete may be unaware of
